Hainan is an ideal provincial area for the demonstration of scientific and technological frontiers, together with comprehensive application of big data in research for sustainable development. Based on multi-source and multi-temporal remote sensing satellite data, we have developed information products for Hainan’s agriculture, forestry, water resources, urban development, disasters, coastal zone and other resources. The outcome serves Hainan’s environmental resource protection and utilization which will further promote the implementation of sustainable development strategies. Moreover, the sustainable development evaluation system, assessment techniques and methods, the decision-making platform, have been developed to help aid in the same cause across the province as well as to achieve the “double carbon” goal to provide assistance. This will help achieve the rapid economic growth, ecological balance and environmental protection in province Hainan and enhance the global influence of Hainan.
